LHC

The world’s largest particle accelerator called the Large Hadron Collider, LHC, housed in a 27 km ring-shaped tunnel CERN  of the European Organization for Nuclear Research that is located underground the Swiss-French border close to Geneva, is running again after a two-year shutdown for refit of its machinery and wiring, and upgrade to beef up its maximum collision capacity from 8 teraelectronvolts (TeV) to record levels 13 TeV– 6.5 TeV for each of the two counter-rotating beams injected with proton beams, the source material for sub-atomic smashups. This will allow physicists to resume exploring uncharted areas of the matter that make up the universe.

“The purpose of the lengthy project is to recreate the conditions that existed moments after the “Big Bang” — the scientific theory said to explain the creation of the universe. By replicating the energy density and temperature, scientists hope to uncover how the universe evolved.”

Any new discoveries it makes are unlikely to emerge until mid-2016. This could change the Physics as we know today, beyond the theory describing particles and their interactions.

The anticipated outcome will very impressive. But then we knew that the universe did not just come into being by itself, it is created by some force and power that we could never fathom out, and we are part of that creation, a single grain of sand in a space beyond our human spatial comprehension. If anything, this should at most affirm the force, energy and power that is God, who gave us life, who created the heavens and the earth.
