Texas Bluebonnet Fields – Lakes Trail Region

The hills and the fields were alive with the divine fragrance of the colorful Bluebonnets and other wildflowers in bloom this week in the Prairies and Lakes Region, in the rural city of Glen Rose, Texas, (see map below) starting right before the Dinosaur Valley State Park Entrance on Park Rd 59 off FM 205, up to some areas inside the park.

We went on a weekend scenic road trip on April 01-03, 2017 and there were several sightings of popping wildflowers on the fields and on the side roads, especially along I-45, where the dominant ones were the Buttercups and Bitterweeds, with occasional Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes. But in Glen Rose, pretty thick blanket of Bluebonnets came on strong in the fields.

Texas bluebonnet, Lupinus texensis, is the state flower of Texas.
